What should I expect on the first visit?
On the first visit we will start with a few easy questions. Basic things about you that will help reveal your personality, your style and what your lifestyle entails. Our goal is to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Working one on one together in the comfort of your own home, we will then begin looking at your clothes. In a non-judgmental process we will discuss different pieces and how you currently use them, styles that appear consistently and how certain outfits or pieces effect how you feel or act when you wear them. During this visit we will group items you already own into comfortable and styled combinations as well as weed out items that no longer suit you.
Will this be like one of those TV shows where my clothes (and me) are made fun of and everything is thrown out?
Absolutely not! 1200 Miles to Barneys is about helping you find comfort and confidence in what you wear; we strive to increase your personal style and believe that it is never okay to make someone feel bad or make fun of what they own.
Is there anything I should do in preparation?
You do not need to do anything in preparation. We understand that there may be a desire to go through your clothes ahead of time, or even go shopping, but this is not helpful to the overall process. We want to see what you own to better understand you and your shopping/wardrobe tendencies. This allows for a more accurate analysis of what you have, the changes you would like to see and how 1200 Miles to Barneys will help you get there.
Why do you want to go through my clothes before we go shopping?
Going through your clothes/wardrobe before we go shopping helps to better assess your needs. This initial step helps to avoid duplicating pieces you may already own and ensuring that new items compliment your collection.
How often are your services needed?
Services are needed as often as you like. Some people like to work together each season, some once a year, and sometimes people just want help getting ready for an event without the pressure or stress of preparing all on their own.
