With living in Minnesota I think it is fair to say we are all used to the changing of seasons. Now that it is fall and feels cooler than usual (rumor has it we are missing out on the typical 60 degree temps we usually have at this time of year) it is a perfect time to take advantage of wearing coats/jackets. I know we all have at least one and by January we tend to be more concerned with the function of the coat rather than the fashion part. I admit, to doing the same thing. However, in the last few years I have realized how nice and fun (yes, fun) it can be to wear a functional yet fashionable jacket. There really are a lot of benefits to this. One, on a cold day having something you like to wear is a great pick-me-up. Two, there isn’t a shortage on options, you can find a coat in almost any style and color imaginable. Three, it can really dress up an otherwise casual outfit, who says you can’t go to grocery store and look good doing it?! Fourth, and my final reason, if you’re in a bind and can’t think of anything to wear, belt your jacket and turn it into your day’s outfit (designer Rachel Roy does it all the time). The picture that accompanies this post is of my dream coat for this fall and winter. I love the color, the quilting details and the belt. I am pretty sure wearing this on a chilly day would make me happy despite the temperature. If you think I’m crazy that’s fine, but I’ll be the one smiling while walking outside in my pretty jacket!
